Material
Requirements Planning helps to assure that the right materials
are in the right places at the right times. It provides the
required information to develop priorities, meet commitments,
and plan production and purchasing activities for effective
factory management. The application determines exact component
requirements and manufacturing schedules based upon product
forecasts and commitments to customers. Once the demand for
top-level assemblies and service parts has been established,
the system computes the quantities of components needed to meet
the demand. It provides on-line inquiry into the planning database.
A material planner can display and review the item requirements
schedule, open orders and suggested action, suggested new orders,
and pegging; moreover, this data may be seen either on a "bucketless"
basis, or in user established time buckets. Included in the
